North Yorkshire Police is aware of an unauthorised traveller encampment that has been established on the lane leading to the sewage works in Tadcaster.
Officers are aware of the presence of the encampment and will continue to monitor the situation. Any relevant information or concerns identified by officers will be shared with North Yorkshire Council, who are responsible for assessing the matter and determining any appropriate course of action. Police will continue to work alongside partner agencies and await further direction from the Council.
At the present time, we would ask members of the public not to speculate and to report any specific concerns or incidents through the appropriate channels. This includes reporting any criminal activity, anti-social behaviour, or other issues directly to the Police, while matters relating to land management or enforcement should be directed to the relevant local authority.
We recognise that the presence of an unauthorised encampment may cause concern within the local community. Please be assured that officers will continue to assess any issues that arise and take appropriate action where offences are identified.
Anyone wishing to report concerns can do so via the North Yorkshire Police website, by calling 101, or by dialling 999 in an emergency. | ||
