🔒 Community Crime Prevention Message 🔒 North Yorkshire Police would like to remind residents to take a few simple steps to help protect themselves, their homes, and their property from crime.
Home Security🏠 Always lock doors and windows when leaving your home, even if only for a short time. 🏠 Keep valuables, keys, and car keys out of sight and away from doors and windows. 🏠 Consider installing security lighting, CCTV, or a video doorbell to deter offenders. 🏠 Use timer switches on lights when you are away to give the impression that someone is home.
Vehicle Security🚗 Always lock your vehicle and ensure windows, sunroofs, and boot lids are fully closed. 🚗 Remove all valuables from your vehicle or keep them out of sight. 🚗 Never leave keys unattended or near your front door where they can be accessed through a letterbox.
Personal Safety🚶 Be aware of your surroundings when out and about. 🚶 Keep mobile phones, wallets, and handbags secure and out of sight where possible. 🚶 Trust your instincts. If something doesn't feel right, move to a safe place and seek assistance.
Community Matters🤝 Look out for neighbours, particularly those who may be elderly or vulnerable. 🤝 Report suspicious behaviour, vehicles, or activity to the police. 🤝 Consider joining or supporting local community safety initiatives.
Remember, many crimes are opportunistic. Taking simple preventative measures can significantly reduce the risk of becoming a victim. If you witness suspicious activity, report it to North Yorkshire Police via 101 or online. In an emergency, or if a crime is in progress, always call 999.
Stay alert, stay secure, and help keep our communities safe. 🚔🔒
