🚨 Fraud Warning - Please Stay Vigilant 🚨 North Yorkshire Police are reminding residents to remain vigilant following reports of scams and fraud affecting communities across the county. Fraudsters continue to use a variety of methods to trick people into handing over money, bank details and personal information. Common scams currently include phishing texts and emails, fake delivery notifications, bogus police officer calls, courier fraud and doorstep scams. Please remember: ✅ Your bank or the police will never ask for your PIN, password or online banking details. ✅ The police and your bank will never ask you to withdraw cash, transfer money to a "safe account" or hand over bank cards, cash or valuables to a courier. ✅ Be cautious of unexpected phone calls, emails or text messages asking for personal or financial information. ✅ Never click on links in suspicious messages and always verify who you are dealing with using official contact details. If you receive a suspicious call claiming to be from the police, hang up and wait before making another call, or use a different phone where possible. If in doubt, contact police on 101 to verify the caller's identity. If you believe you have been a victim of fraud, report it to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or online at www.actionfraud.police.uk. For crimes in progress or emergencies, always call 999.
