I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Road Safety Issues, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. As a result of pro-active patrols by the Neighbourhood Policing Team officers were able to stop and locate an illegal electronically powered mountain bike which was driven by a young male in the Dunnington area. The bike having been driven along the A166 was found to be illegal and had defective brakes. The mountain bike, illegally adapted was seized under section 165 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 due to been used on a public road without a policy of insurance. If you know of anyone riding around on suspected illegal electric bikes please contact police via 101. Always call 999 in an emergency.
