Community Message – Attempts to Interfere with Vehicles (Ripon Area)

We are aware of several incidents over the last two nights across the Ripon area where individuals have attempted to interfere with vehicles. These incidents are not limited to insecure vehicles — offenders are causing damage in attempts to gain access, regardless of whether vehicles are locked.

Neighbourhood patrols are being increased and enquiries are ongoing. We are asking residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour.

What you can do to protect your vehicle:

Always lock and secure your vehicle – ensure doors, windows, and sunroofs are fully closed.

Remove all valuables – do not leave any items on display or in the vehicle where possible.

Consider additional security measures:

Steering wheel locks
Vehicle alarms and immobilisers
CCTV or video doorbells covering parking areas

Park in well-lit, overlooked areas – or in a garage if available.

Be mindful of keyless vehicles – store keys away from entry points and consider using Faraday pouches to prevent signal theft.

Report damage promptly – even minor damage or attempted entry can assist us in identifying patterns.

Stay alert – report anyone seen trying door handles, looking into vehicles, or acting suspiciously in residential streets.

If you have CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage that may assist our enquiries, please review it and submit anything relevant.
