We have had several reports recently of people being targeted by companies offering work such as gardening, home repairs, driveway work, and maintenance.

This can happen at your door, over the phone, or online (Facebook, websites, etc.). Elderly and vulnerable people are often targeted.

What to watch out for:

How to stay safe: 

✅ Do not agree to work straight away
✅ Be careful with online adverts and unknown companies
✅ Always get 2 or 3 quotes
✅ Use trusted and recommended tradespeople
✅ Speak to family, friends, or neighbours before deciding
✅ Never feel pressured into saying yes

Please also look out for elderly or vulnerable neighbours – a quick check-in could help prevent someone becoming a victim.

If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts.
