Safety Appeal Following Reports of Youths Entering Abandoned Building |
||
|
Police are issuing a public safety appeal following recent reports of youths entering the abandoned former Thaal Indian Restaurant building.
Abandoned and dilapidated premises pose serious risks, including unsafe structures, unsecured stairways, exposed wiring, broken glass and the potential presence of hazardous materials. Entering such buildings is extremely dangerous and could result in serious injury or worse.
We would like to remind parents, carers and young people that accessing disused buildings is not only unsafe but may also constitute trespassing. What may appear to be curiosity or exploration can very quickly turn into a life‑threatening situation.
Police are actively working with the landowner to monitor and secure the premises, with the aim of preventing further incidents and reducing the risk of harm. Additional measures are being considered to restrict access and deter unauthorised entry.
We are asking members of the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity at the site to police.
Anyone witnessing people entering or attempting to enter the building is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101. In an emergency, always dial 999. Thank you! | ||
