Westfield Ward update

This week, your local Neighbourhood Policing Team has been active across the area, working to keep our communities safe and supported.

Officers have made a number of arrests relating to outstanding warrants and breaches of court or police bail conditions, ensuring those wanted by the courts were dealt with promptly.

We have continued to engage with residents and partners, attending a community drop‑in event at The Place in Chapelfields alongside local councillors, the Local Area Co‑ordinator and support agencies. Business engagement has also taken place with local retailers, including follow‑up work around antisocial behaviour and shop theft, helping businesses to feel supported and protected. 

Our team has carried out reassurance patrols in hotspot areas and conducted enquiries into recent burglary reports. We have also followed up on antisocial behaviour incidents, with positive action taken including identifying those responsible and issuing banning notices where appropriate. Referrals were also made to Youth Justice Services where additional support was needed.

Work with young people remains a priority. Officers delivered educational leaflets as part of Operation Pendulum, explaining the law around off‑road motorcycles and e‑bikes.

Safeguarding remains at the heart of what we do. Visits were carried out to residents who may be vulnerable, including those at risk of exploitation, and appropriate referrals were made for ongoing support. Officers also ensured the welfare of a vulnerable individual found intoxicated, safely returning them to family care.

Curfew checks were completed on individuals subject to court or police conditions, and signups to Community Messenger continue to grow, helping residents stay informed about local policing issues.
