Roofs Are Not Playgrounds – Talk To Your Kids |
||
|
🚨 Roofs Are Not Playgrounds 🏠 As the evenings get lighter and the weather improves, we want to remind parents and the local community about the serious dangers of climbing onto roofs. While it may seem exciting or fun, the reality is extremely dangerous. Falls from height remain one of the leading causes of fatal injuries in the UK. Many roofs — including garages, sheds, schools and commercial buildings — are fragile and not designed to support weight. Materials such as skylights or roofing sheets can give way without warning. Climbing onto buildings can also cause damage such as broken tiles, gutters and skylights. This can amount to criminal damage, which is a criminal offence and will be dealt with robustly. 👮 A message from your local policing team: Please speak with your children about the risks and consequences of climbing onto roofs. What might seem like harmless fun can quickly turn into a serious incident with devastating consequences. 📞 If you see this happening: Working together, we can help keep young people safe.
