🚨 Community Safety Message – Increase in Moped & Motorcycle Thefts 🚨

We’ve seen a recent spike in moped and motorcycle thefts in the area. Please take a moment to check that your bike is secure, and if you have a friend, neighbour, or family member who owns a bike, pass this message on so they can protect theirs too.

🔒 Simple steps to keep your bike safe

Use a high‑quality lock: A heavy-duty chain, disk lock, or D‑lock placed through the frame and wheel makes theft far more difficult.

Secure it to something solid: Whenever possible, lock your bike to a fixed object such as a ground anchor or metal post.

Cover it up: A simple bike cover can deter thieves by hiding the make and model and slowing attempts.

Use multiple locks: Different types of locks take longer to defeat. Thieves usually look for quick opportunities.

Park in well‑lit, overlooked areas: Choose locations with CCTV or busy pedestrian traffic whenever you can.

Check your alarms and trackers: If your bike has an alarm, immobiliser, or tracker, make sure it’s working properly.

Remove valuables: Don’t leave helmets, gloves, or accessories on show.

If you notice suspicious activity—particularly people tampering with bikes, using angle grinders, or riding without helmets—report it immediately on 101, or 999 in an emergency.
