Don't be fooled by fraudsters |

Following recent reports of scams known as courier fraud, we are urging the public to be careful when receiving phone calls from people claiming to be from your bank or from the police. How courier fraud scams work: • Victims receive a phone call from someone claiming to be a police officer. • The caller may say that your bank card has been cloned. • They will then ask you to assist in a sting operation targeting corruption at a local bank. • You will be instructed to withdraw cash from your bank, with the claim that the money is suspected to be counterfeit. • A courier will attend your home address to collect the cash. No legitimate police officer, bank official, or any other professional will ever ask you to withdraw money from your account, ask you to transfer money to another account, or send a courier to collect cash from your home. If anyone asks you to do this, it is a scam. Hang up immediately and report it to North Yorkshire Police via 101 or Report Fraud. | ||
