Alerting Hospitality Businesses

We have had reports from several hospitality venues in the Harrogate and Knaresborough area of a male frequenting premises and using PDQ card machines to process refunds to various bank cards. These transactions have been of a high value. The male has on one occasion attempted to purchase a drink and claimed there were issues with his card, taking the machine to enter his pin and overriding the machine with the supervisor pin number. We are asking local businesses to be extra vigilant and report any similar incidents to police. 

We also advise businesses to review the security around access to logins and pin numbers for overriding PDQ machines and security around entry to bar areas or areas where point of sales may be present
