Do you know about our Super Cocooning initiative?  

We want to help to prevent your home from being burgled in the first place by offering home security advice, but if a burglary does take place, we will attend and offer a robust package of support, including Super Cocooning. 

Super Cocooning is where we provide crime prevention advice and guidance to residents of burgled properties, as well as neighbours of surrounding addresses, to help prevent repeat victimisation. 

We often combine this with other interventions, including target hardening, property marking and security surveys.  

Effective Super Cocooning leads to improved community safety and crime reduction as, along with improved home security, it is likely to make homes less attractive to burglars. 

Our Neighbourhood Policing Teams aim to complete Super Cocooning within 72 hours of a report of a domestic burglary. We will: 

Contact the victim of the burglary to ask about the incident. 

Conduct house to house enquiries in the area and carry out a leaflet drop informing of the burglary within a reasonable and proportionate radius of the attacked property. 

Whilst the primary investigation will have already been conducted by the attending officer, the neighbourhood officer will check further CCTV and video doorbell opportunities within a proportionate and reasonable radius of the attacked properties. Consideration should also be given to dash cam footage as often dash cameras that are hard wired to vehicles will start recording when motion is detected close by.
