Illegal E-Bike Seized

York Neighbourhood Policing Team have seized another illegally modified E-bike after seeing the rider speeding down a residential street in York. 

This bike could reach a free wheel throttle speed of 68 mph which with a rider on would be capable of 30+mph, in addition to this the bike had bald tyres and only 1 brake. These bikes cause a serious risk to the both the rider and other members of the public. 

Due to it being fully electric powered the bike has been seized for no insurance and is due to crushed. 

This is part of the of the on going Operation Pendulum designed to tackle illegal use of e-bikes across the city.
