We have recently seen an incident in Tadcaster whereby a vehicle was stolen from York Road. Given this I would like to highlight a few tips to ensure the best security for your vehicle and any belongings within. Tips to prevent vehicle crime: Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicleWhen parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.Be aware of your keys. Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox. If you have a key-less entry car, use a signal blocking bag.Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.PLEASE BE VIGILANT AND REPORT ANY SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITIES IN THE AREA.If you have any information relating to this crime, or crimes in your area then please contact the police on the non-emergency 101 number. Alternatively, you can give information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. |
