Reports of sheep theft in NY Moors


North Yorkshire Police are investigating and gathering information regarding theft of sheep in the Yorkshire Moors and surrounding areas.  

 

The most recent reports are from 24 June 2025 where four Asian males were seen trying to steal sheep near Crag Bank in Kildale.

 

A grey Skoda Octavia vehicle with a distinctive pale blue taxi plate affixed to the rear has been linked to the offences.

If ANY wildlife crime is taking place and is ONGOING please call 999 

If possible and safe to do so provide the following information

  • What is happening? – what sort of crime is being committed?
  • Are any firearms involved? could the Police or the public be in danger?
  • The exact location. Most smartphones have map apps or download the free What3Words app to pinpoint location.
  • If any dogs are involved how many are there?
  • The make, colour and registration number of any vehicle
  • Any descriptions of persons involved
  • If safe to do so, take photographs or video evidence
  •  ***  NEVER place yourself or others at risk -  SAFETY comes first *** Please do not approach persons/vehicles.
  • Suspicious activity, information or wildlife crimes that are not ongoing can be reported via 101 or online or to Crimestoppers. 

     

    Reporting a wildlife crime is important. 

    It allows the authorities to build up an accurate picture of what might be happening in a specific location and if reported at the time may enable Police to catch the criminals committing the offences.
