Today as part of Neighbourhood Policing week was all about road safety. 

Your Richmondshire Neighbourhood Policing Team, worked collaboratively alongside the Richmond Community Speedwatch group, with 2 deployments within the town. The results being vastly different.

During a 1 hour afternoon deployment, along Darlington Road over 400 vehicles passed us, with just 1 vehicle being recorded driving at excess speed however shockingly this was 42mph in a 30mph zone. 

A completely different story however on station road in a 20mph zone. During just a 30 minute deployment we caught 15 cars driving at excess speed out of 164 vehicles that passed us. The highest speed being 29mph.

A polite reminder that Richmond Town centre is a 20mph speed limit, and I urge you to stick to this.
