Earlier this week, we told you about Project Titan, a new team in York, dedicated to intercepting drugs.
Launched in December 2024, Project Titan was put in place following an increase in county line drug dealing in the city. The term 'county lines' is used to describe networks of gangs and organised crime groups, who use children, young people and vulnerable adults to carry out illegal activity on their behalf.
Last night (Tuesday 29 April) officers working on Project Titan became aware of drug use at a property in the Tang Hall area.
After obtaining a warrant, we entered the address on Rockingham Avenue. Upon entry, four suspects were detained - one of those detained was done so whilst climbing out of a window.
A large quantity of what is believed to be a Class-A drug was seized as well as mobile phones.
A 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class-A drug.
A 34-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class-A drug.
They all currently remain in police custody.
Project Titan’s lead, DCI Shaun Page from North Yorkshire Police said: "Our team are working tirelessly around the clock, and this is another example of the great work being done to intercept the supply of illegal drugs in York. "I would reiterate to everyone - if there is something that doesn’t look quite right or if you have concerns about drug supply or county lines operating in your area or feel like you have witnessed something suspicious, please do get in touch with us - you're not wasting our time. You can report information to the police on 101, or via our website.” | ||||
