Some Fantastic Results In The Last 24 Hours.

Dear Residents of Richmondshire,

We have had a very productive day and evening last night, so I thought it would be worthwhile letting you all know, mainly for reassurance purposes. As you know we have one of the lowest crime rates in Richmondshire across the Country, but obviously we do still have crime and when it occurs, I like to think we do our best to provide an excellent service and these are some of the results we have achieved in the last 24 hours.

First of all, I would like to inform you that I have been on patrol in a large marked van along our borders and have conducted speed checks in the villages I passed through. The worse case I found was 37 in West Witton and they were from out of area, so my plan is to produce a media release in relation to our speeding campaign, so our visitors are aware and will hopefully slow down for us.

Whilst I was on patrol I also came across a vehicle in the Tan Hill area that was out of MOT since February and also found a Ford Transit van in Melsonby that was out of Tax since January. Please be aware that if you are living in the more rural areas you are still very likely to be caught if you do not have the relevant documents for your vehicle.

This afternoon, we had a report of a 90 year old vulnerable female that had been subject to a distraction burglary out of our area, but the 3 suspects were heading towards us. We therefore had Officers waiting and upon them arriving in our area, they were promptly arrested on suspicion of Burglary which I am very happy with. Although the offence was not in our area (West Yorkshire), this is a brilliant example of how we work very closely with our neighbouring Forces to keep crime as low as possible in Richmondshire. They may have also been heading to our area to commit further crimes.

Another fabulous result was last night when we arrested a male from the Middlesborough area in relation to 19 burglaries that occurred in the Colburn area. This was in relation to an incident where a caravan storage facility was targeted this week, but as a result of some excellent team work and evidence gathering, we quickly identified a suspect. We then went to Middlesborough and personally arrested a male before taking them to Harrogate Custody for process. With this being an ongoing investigation, I cannot comment any further on the specifics of this, but believe this sends out a very positive message to anyone visiting Richmondshire to commit crime.

So overall, I am very happy with what we have achieved over the last 24 hours and this is just a small part of what we have been doing.

I just thought it would be nice to update you all as I think there are some great results there and you need to be reassured that we are doing our best to keep Richmondshire as safe as we possibly can.

Please keep reporting any suspicious incidents via the 101 system, unless it is an emergency, as we could not do this without your help in most cases.

Also, if you have time, I would be really grateful if you would respond below with some feedback in relation to this alert, so I can monitor future content.

Thank you very much

Martin
