The Springs/St Alkelda's Road One Way System - To Be Enforced

Dear Residents of Middleham,

It has been brought to my attention that some motorists are frequently driving against the one way system on The Springs, (see photographs).

The below is part of a quote from one of the complaints I have received.

'This is very dangerous behaviour as horse riders-some well under the age of 16, come up the road daily, there are children leaving the play area, busy chatting as children do, and often ‘wander’ into the road, and there are dog walkers crossing where the public footpath crosses the road at the start of the one way system from the St Alkeldas end.'

I have been there today to assess the situation and have decided that I will be enforcing this as it is clearly very dangerous and is a safety issue. Please be mindful of this and share around the local area.

The MINIMUM penalty if caught will be a 100 Pounds fine and 3 points on your Driving Licence, but I believe the MAXIMUM penalty is 6-8 points and a fine of up to 2000 Pounds, if found guilty in a Court.

I clearly cannot be there all of the time, but will be making frequent random checks, plus if someone passes me the required evidence, such as a photograph or video and is happy providing a witness statement, then I will still look at prosecuting offenders, so do not risk it.

I really do not want to catch anyone using the road as a short cut, so please spread the word in the area and ensure this stops now if you are one or know any motorists involved.

If you found this alert useful I would be really grateful if you would respond accordingly below.

Regards

Martin
