Issues on Moor Road, Leyburn - Some Reassurance For You

Dear Residents of Leyburn, especially those in the vicinity of Moor Road,

I have had some reports of speeding HGV's with unreadable registration plates in the Moor Road area and from what people are telling me, they are highly likely to be from the quarry, the Biker Group and Metcalfes Farms.

I would like to reassure you that I have personally visited the businesses and held meetings with either the Transport Manager or the owner. I have raised your concerns and made it very clear that speeding in the Moor Road area will not be tolerated and there will be checks carried out. All 3 meetings were very productive and I was happy with their response to me turning up unannounced at their sites.

Since then I have carried out checks and have been pleased to see registration plates are readable, plus have not seen any speeding HGV's and I intend to carry out some more checks, both in a plain vehicle and a high visibility one.

All I ask is you are realistic in respect of this as I am responsible for over a 500 square mile area and have a very small Community Team to assist me. We clearly cannot be there all of the time, but I am hopeful my meetings, plus random checks will help reduce the issue you have raised.

I also would like to find a good location at the bottom of Moor Road, so if anyone would like to give me permission to use their drive or park outside their property, I would be most grateful. I can then target both ends of Moor Road which would be a lot better in my opinion, so please simply reply to this alert if you can assist.

If you found the alert useful, I would really appreciate it if you would respond accordingly below.

Have a great day

Martin
