Stolen Motorcycle Foxwood

Good evening,

On Sunday 24th March at approximately 19:54hrs North Yorkshire Police received information regarding youths riding anti-socially on motorcycles on BEAGLE RIDGE DRIVE, FOXWOOD.

Officers arrived only moments later, however the motorcycles and riders were no longer present.

Enquiries lead to us locating one of the above-mentioned motorcycles and it transpired this was a stolen motorcycle.

Upon officers reviewing local CCTV, it was confirmed that there were 3 stolen motorcycles present, each bearing a rider and a passenger. I am concerned that these motorbikes were being ridden in an extremely dangerous manner, some of the riders were not wearing helmets.

Throughout the incident there were members of the public walking past, with families and young children.

This behaviour is absolutely unacceptable and North Yorkshire Police are keen to identify the suspects involved and take positive action.

North Yorkshire Police received only one call regarding this incident, despite the clear risks the riders were posing to themselves and members of the community.

If you have any information regarding this incident, please can I encourage you to make contact with North Yorkshire Police by ringing 101 and quoting reference: 12240052090 or email YorkNPT@northyorkshire.police.uk where there is always the option to remain anonymous.

North Yorkshire Police recently launched Op Ignition in response to an increased amount of motorcycles being stolen across York, these crimes have a huge financial impact to victims. Op Ignition is aimed at tackling the theft of stolen motorcycles, so far, we have identified and arrested a number of individuals, as well as reuniting numerous victims with their motorcycles.

Please can I also encourage you, the community to report any future information about anti-social behaviour involving motorbikes to North Yorkshire Police using 101, 999 phone numbers or online as appropriate.

These individuals who are stealing motorcycles are having a detrimental effect on our communities and their behaviour will not be tolerated. I would kindly ask parents to speak to their children about this subject.

I am trying to reduce the harm caused by this type of incident and want to remind the community of the tragic incident that took place last year where a 17-year-old boy lost his life as a result of a accident whilst riding a motorcycle.

Me and my team will work tirelessly to prevent this from happening again.

North Yorkshire Police will continue to take positive action on this issue. However, we do rely on the assistance from the community, I urge you to report these incidents to us and share any information known.

Thanks

Police Sergeant Ben Stevens
